Oh Kee I'm sorry I only saw this thread now I know with them throwing up you do need to be careful about them getting dehydrated. I know it's people's instincts to give them more water but I did that years ago not knowing that it will only cause the dog to continue to throw up and become dehydrated. I would say a call to your vet might be good. I have had lots of experience with dog diarrhea but not sure if it was ever black so I don't know if that is a symptom of something specific or not. With diarrhea I used to give my dogs chopped meat and rice but after Teddy's last bout of diarrhea I did some research and came across a vet that recommended boiled chicken and rice since the chopped meat can make matters worse in some dogs. This was true with Teddy he didn't do well on the chopped meat. He just recently had some diarrhea after getting into my parrot's papers and after a few days of boiled rice added to his hard food and only getting sensitive stomach treats in between meals it cleared up pretty quickly. I hope your chi feels better soon

Kee - the boiled chicken and rice is good for regular diarrhea, but with it being black and being accompanied by vomit, I really think you should consult your vet. I'd hate to see it be parvo and something really bad happen to him as well as exposing all your other babies to it too. Good luck and please keep us posted!

He seems to be getting better. He is stiffing around and barking like he does all the time so we hope he is getting better.I don't think it would be parvo any way because he don't go anywhere. He stays at home all the time and our outside dogs have had there shots and are fine. But likie i said he is doing better today.

I hope it was just a fluke and he's all better. I didn't mean to be an alarmist, I just worry about everyone's babies so much! Sending good healing thoughts your way
