This is what I posted at the other forum...
She's 14 weeks old today and a healthy, happy, energetic little pup. The beginning was definitely rocky with her, but I'm just happy she's fine now. I took her to the beach last week, she loved it and wasn't even afraid to go up to the water... she did run away when the tide started coming in closer. . ;D Anyway I'll post the pics... they are from 8 weeks old + My dad is helping me fight the place on the vet bills. We sent them in to the warranty company and should hear back very soon. I'm hoping we reimbursed on a majority of the vet bills (the one vet even took extra time to write a detailed diagnosis on Shi along with the certificate of unfit). Then we won't have to deal with this place anymore. They ended up being so shady. I read reviews online about them and it seems like the place has even changed the name... ugh it's really surprising it hasn't be shut down by now!
Ok. What a week. Sorry I haven't posted in forever, most of you might not remember me, but I do come on everyday... I guess that makes me a lurker now! I also want to add before anyone is quick to judge... I know what I did was "wrong" and probably a stupid decision on my part, my family already owns a Chihuahua from an awesome breeder and two other dogs (Labrador retrievers) from amazing breeders as well.
It started Thursday night, my roommate has been searching for a puppy for a while. She called me to go with her to a "puppy store" about a half hour from our house. I decided to go and look with her. We walk in and she starts looking around and I see two itty bitty Chihuahua puppies in a pen, brother and sister. I start playing with the little girl and she pulled on my heartstrings right away... just the way she was acting reminded me of Harley. Now several minutes later my roommate is ready to leave. I can't leave. I just stood there holding this puppy. Guess who left with a puppy? Yeah... me. I can't believe it. I was one of those people that got suckered into buying an overpriced puppy. Trust me, I knew better, but something about her. I couldn't leave her there. Anyway she appeared healthy, I looked at her eyes, nose and ears all were clear and she was friendly and playful. All day Friday she was great, eating like a little pig and sleeping a lot. Saturday she woke up throwing up and it was every few minutes. I had an appt to get her checked out at the vet in the late afternoon but didn't want to risk waiting. I know the little ones can easily get dehydrated. I took her in as an emergency. She had to stay overnight and while she tested neg. for parasites, they gave me meds for it anyway because it can show up negative. I brought her home Sunday afternoon, and she was like a different puppy. I thought we were in the clear... this morning I wake up and same thing... she's vomiting every few minutes. I made the earliest appt and brought her in. She was given some fluids and medicine to help with the vomiting. She ate and I was given some food to help her stomach. Both times I brought her in she was also hypoglycemic, now I have been giving her nutri-cal and karo syrup whenever I see her seem lethargic. I am nervous that it's something more serious, as the vet mentioned a liver shunt. I know it is normal for small puppies to become hypoglycemic, esp. since she didn't feel good and then wouldn't eat (that right there could have caused it). Has anyone experienced more than one "attack" and their pup ended up fine? Just curious. The vet seems to think she just needs to get over this hump... she isn't 12 weeks yet. She's almost 10 weeks. The two vets that saw her both wrote out certificates of unfit (which means unfit for sale) for me to present to the place I bought her so they can reimburse the bills. The place is already giving me trouble... has anyone ever dealt with this before? Just looking for some advice. I refuse to "exchange" her or they claim their "vets on staff" can treat her... yeah right. I'm going in tomorrow to deal with them. Wish me luck.
Despite the very rough start. Shiloh really is a sweet girl and always wagging her tiny little tail. She's light cream and has a white heart-like marking on her forehead. I'll post some pics when things start to calm down. I want her to get lots of rest today!
