Recently I've noticed Woody's nose changing color in one area. I took him to the vet and she said not to worry. It doesn't look normal to me and I'm hoping it's just a seasonal thing.
Has anyone seen or had a dark colored dog's nose change color?

Is it just getting to be a lighter shade? Is it maybe a dry patch? Can you see where it may be chapped? My male cocker had a really dry nose and I used to have to put vaseline on it all the time.

I know I remember talking about this on chi people someones dog had this happen. I think it might be pretty common. Bella is my only dog with a pink nose I think it's sweet & makes her special. I know I saw someone in their search for a chi specificlly ask that they have a black nose I thought it was kinda over the top I mean you can get a dog like you want but we all know they change and it can be a big change. I wondered if they got a pup with a black nose if it turned pink would they get rid of it ;D

I'll post a current picture of his nose tomorrow.
It's not dry or chapped and only one section is getting lighter. My vet said if it did get dry or chapped or if the changing of color started spreading on his snout and away from his nose that I should bring him back.
I guess what's bugging me is I've never seen a black and tan Chihuahua with anything other than a black nose. I thought maybe the Cosequin he's taking might have something to do with it but I ruled it out after looking at pictures taken before he started taking it where they clearly show his nose had already begun changing color.
It started changing awhile ago but was so faint you wouldn't see it unless you were specifically looking for it that's why I've only recently noticed it. Now it's very noticeable in normal lighting.

I know Tyson is not a dark colour but his nose was jet black for ages and a little while ago half of it started turning pink now he has a pink blob in the middle of a black nose

Bellas looks like Tysons But it's been like that for as long as I can remember. Hopefully Woodys is nothing to worry about

Here's how his nose looks today... When I went back through old pictures I could see it had started changing color back in late December. I know I shouldn't worry because I haven't found any information to suggest there's anything wrong with him but it still worries me. If anyone comes across another black and tan with a nose similar to Woody's I'd be very grateful if you posted a link to the picture

Jen that is EXACTLY how Tysons started !! and now its pink in the middle to and just black around the edges. I will try and get a picture to show you soon. It's the exact same colour I said to Stu that he is licking the colour off his nose

Licking the color off his nose Jayne that makes me feel better I also sent an email to my breeder asking if she's seen anything like this in other dark colored Chihuahuas. I think she still has Woody's dad and it would be interesting to know if it has happened to his nose as well.
