Poor Holly. My guys didn't like the brushing at all the first few days but after I started giving them a treat after I was done they were fine with it. Hopefully Holly will react the same.
So you apply it everyday. How do you apply it?

I'm happy to say that tonight's treatment went MUCH better. She gets 1/3 tsp each night before bed. It's a gel, so you can either put it on your finger and just rub it up on her gumline or you can use a toothbrush, whish is what I've started doing. They can't have anything to eat or drink for 1/2 hour before and after, and it's best if you do it before bed so they don't eat or drink at all after so the stuff can work all night long. The bottle says to do it once a day for a month and then you can cut back to every 2 to 3 days, but online it says if you're starting with a lot of build-up on the teeth, you should do it twice a day for a month and then start with with the maintenance schedule. I'm giving it two more days of just doing it at night to make sure she doesn't develop diarrhea or anything from it, and then I'm going to start doing morning and night to make sure they're nice and clean by her appt. next month. Tonight she actually licked it off the brush -- it's peppermint flavored

Yay Holly I'm surprised it's peppermint flavored and not beef or something.

I'm happy to report that the third night went without too much fuss. She's decided now that she doesn't really like the brush though, but she loves it when I put my finger all the back in her mouth and rub it on her gums, so that's what we'll do from now on She has really decided she likes the taste -- I put the gel in a little measuring spoon and when I've gotten all the gel out of there with my finger that I can, she then licks the rest out ;D

She has become such a little champ about it! First of all, she loves the peppermint, and she loves the gum-rubbing action, so she actually kind of opens her mouth for me ;D It seems like an awful lot of gel for such a tiny mouth, but that's the amount for a small dog or cat.

How long until you're suppose to see a difference?

I think I'm supposed to be able to tell already, but I haven't looked because I want to wait to see a big change ;D One month is supposed to be all it takes to get them cleaned up, then you do the maintenance schedule.

Is it suppose to remove the plaque that's already there?

Yeah, they show before and after 30 days. If they have a lot of build-up to start with, they recommend twice a day, but I haven't gone to that yet. I'm just going to see how it is after 30 days and then I'll decide if I should keep doing it every day or cut back to ever 3 days or so. Once they're clean, that's supposed to be enough to keep them from getting any more build-up. Let's hope!!
