How does it work Jen? I have some clippers, tried to use them once and scared the life out of me so I pay for the groomers to do both the boys nails. I would love to do them myself though.

Oh it's super easy Jayne Before I started using a Dremel Teddy and Woody both hated when I would do their nails. It was something I dreaded doing. I finally stopped using a nail cutter when Teddy cried as I was cutting one of his nails The cutter can pinch the nail causing pain. Below is a great video of a girl using a Dremel on her Doberman's nails.

Yes more like a file.
The part you use on their nail has a rough sandpaper texture to it. When you turn the Dremel on this part rotates very quickly. You slowly bring it up to their nail and it "files" the nail down.
What you need to be careful of when using a Dremel is how long you keep it on their nail. The fast rotation causes friction against the nail which can cause heat. This will cause discomfort to your pet if left on the nail for a long time.
I usually go a few seconds with the Dremel on a nail, and then a few seconds off. I try to do their nails a couple of times a week instead of getting them really short each time I Dremel. This way I don't have to use the Dremel for a long time on each nail.
