Chihuahua Agility

I think I posted way back on here when I started agility lessons with Cosette. Well, we've been doing it a year now and having alot of fun with it. Cosette LOVES it so much, it is amazing how excited she is when we get out there every week, she starts doing obstacles on her own and is just so happy. The improvement in her overall behavior is great too, she hasn't stopped barking but it is much much better and she listens to me much better also. It has just been such a positive experience for us, I would recommend it to anyone thinking of trying it with their chi!

Anyway, we had our first actual AKC agility trial two weeks ago. We did two days and Cosette did amazingly well the first day, she had a qualifying score (which to qualify you have to have 85/100 points or better) she had 87/100 and completed her run in 55 seconds and received first place in her height division so got a nice blue ribbon. The second day, she did just as well but I messed up and skipped a jump so we didn't qualify . But we had a great time and I am so proud of her. I was really nervous about going to the trial but now I am looking forward to the next one!

I didn't get to take any pictures of her because of running but the photographer at the trial has some up on his gallery I thought I would share. How does she get along with the other dogs that are there?

Thank you! I was very proud of her. She is about 3 pounds so was the smallest dog there doing agility, we still haven't quite got the teeter down, partly because she is so light she has to go all the way to the end to tip it and she's afraid to. We're working on it though. There was another longcoat chihuahua there who is advanced beyond her and he was very good.

That is a schnauzer next, there were two of them. They were so cute and so good! They were very fast.

It's funny all the different breeds you see doing agility you wouldn't expect. There was a basset hound there, labs, havanese, minipin, quite a few toy dogs. Our agility teacher does agility with pugs and I would have never expected them to be so good at it, but they really are.

Cosette is MEAN to the other dogs! I couldn't really let her walk around on leash until we got to our turn because she will run at and try to bite other dogs in the face, little and big dogs. Now that the barking is better we're trying to work on that diva attitude ;D
