My 4 yr old chi hurts a lot on his side between his front and back leg.He is about 11 pounds. He does not lose weigt. He will scream if you touch him there. It really sounds awful. We don't know what is wrong with him he does seem to go outside a lot.He has screamed off and on for some time when you go to pick him up but we thought it was because we scared because he gets scared so easy. So we was wondering if it was Diabetes but we don't know I was wondering what yall thought it might be.We are going to try to get him in to the vet tomorrow

I'm sorry, I have no knowledge of how diabetes affects dogs, but I definitely think a vet visit is the proper thing to do. I would be more inclined to think perhaps he has a broken rib or something like that. I know that's really painful in people, so I would assume it would be the same in dogs. If it's something like that, it should be easy for the vet to diagnose. Please let us know what you find out! I'll be sending good thoughts your way!

thank you but i don't think it is a broken rib he hurts on both sides and nothing has happened to make him have a broken rib.

I wouldn't guess diabetes because I don't believe pain is a symptom of it. My first Yorkie developed diabetes and his only initial symptom was excessive thirst Teddy and Woody have occasionally cried out when I've picked them up but I've always just assumed I was accidentally grabbing a sensitive spot or something but it's definitely not what you're describing. I would make a trip to the vets like you're planning on doing I hope it turns out to be something very minor. Please keep us updated okay
