Yesterday after our walk Woody was running around the room with one of my gloves then he let out a cry. He limped a little and then went to his bed. For the next few hours he walked okay and his leg didn't seem to be bothering him. Then when I was walking down the hallway with their dinner as he was following me he cried again As he ate he held his back left paw up. He seems to be favoring it but still walks and has run a few times. If it's still bad tomorrow I'm bringing him to the vet. It's not swollen at all but I don't want him to be in any pain. Teddy had a sore hip awhile back and they gave him an anti-inflammatory. I'm hoping that's all Woody needs

These kids make us worry so much! It sounds like a pulled muscle, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he's all better today!

Woody has a Subluxating Patella in his rear left leg. His rear right leg seems tight and didn't pop out when the vet was checking it. The left leg she was able to pop it out, which I heard , and pop it right back so that's good. He didn't cry or anything while she was doing it. It's a grade 1 maybe a 2. Neither of those grades require surgery and she said it could never bother him again. She also said she's always surprised when she doesn't see it in a Chihuahua. Woody has a scissor walk and she said dogs that have that usually have this condition. He does have an anti-inflammatory to take and I'll keep it on hand in case it happens again. Most likely it popped out while he was running around but popped back in on its own. I have a bad knee due to high school sports that can pop in and out if I sit wrong and it's extremely painful when it happens. I have soreness for about three days after so that's most likely what Woody will have. So it wasn't the best news that his leg was just sore but it isn't awful news either That article has a lot of helpful info

Oh no, poor I hate to hear that. But, like you said, at least it's low-grade, so hopefully it'll never happen again Give him a big kiss from Holly and me (we need a kiss smilie)

Poor Woody. Well even thought it wasn't the best news at least he doesn't have to have surgery on it. Chopper has luxating patellas on both sides, both about a 1 but thanksfully he has never had any painful experiences with them.

It is comforting to know that the other Chihuahuas with the same condition aren't effected badly by it. A bunch of friends on another forum their chis have it to and are doing fine
