teddy and woody really don't like wearing their harnesses woody more so than teddy. teddy at least will eventually come to me to let me put it on but woody goes and hides. then when i put it on woody he becomes really stiff legged and walks around with a hunched back. i don't have a fenced in yard right now so they have to wear them in order to walk which they have to do since woody can gain weight easily. here are the looks i get they always go and sit in the same spots after i've put them on.

My boys are the same way. Tucker is OK with his because he knows he gets to go out and he loves walks.. but he always goes to the same corner and does the kidney bean for me to put it on, he does not cooperate while dressing.
Jasper is like Woody... I have to find him as he goes into hiding.. once he gets it on he acts like he's glued to the floor. Sometimes I even have to carry him out the door before he gives up and decides to enjoy his walk! He hates anything on him, infact I can clip his nails easily by just putting a shirt on! He freezes in place. Tucker on the other hand tolerates clothing but you can tell he's not happy about having to wear it. Being they're both long-hair they don't wear clothes much anyway. But harnesses are a must we have to have our walks each day!

ooh that's a good idea putting a shirt on jasper so you can cut his nails i'll try that with woody he's very uncooperative when i try to cut his nails. in the winter when they have to wear their coats a lot of the time woody will just refuse to walk. he turns sideways and then just falls over on his side with his legs sticking straight out ;D

Jen, I had a good laugh at those expressions !! They really don't like those harnesses !! Sophie skulks off as soon as she sees hers. She loves to go out but hates putting on a collar and harness. Once I have them on her, she's ok (except for walking funny for the first minute or so - we say she walks like she's got a load in her pants !! )

;D woody's reaction i can understand because he doesn't really enjoy the walk, but teddy loves it so he should be happy to see his harness

They are so funny And so freaking cute My boys don't mind their harnesses at all. I've put them on Mr. Peepers since he was a , so he was always used to them and comes to me and puts his head inside and everything. ;D The other two I got when they were older, so it took time for them to get used to them. Now they both come to me and stay still for me to put them on.

Hehe they like they're so very abused. What cuties. Deedlit and Izzy don't mind wearing theirs but Cosette has gotten to the point where she hides if she sees me get hers out.

Woody was exactly the same when I first put the harness on him. He would eventually just fall over on his side with his legs sticking out because it was just too much for him to take What I did was everyday I put it on for a few minutes praising him the whole time. Each day I left it on a little longer. He eventually was okay with wearing it but then I had to go through the falling over all over again when I tried to walk him on a leash Now he doesn't enjoy the harness but will wear it and walk on a leash although he doesn't enjoy the walk like Teddy does. It's more of a job for Woody that he can't wait to finish.

Poor Teddy and Woody. They look like your punishing them!! Have you thought of putting it on them and then giving them lots of tummy rubs (if they like that sort of thing) Keep doing it until they relax, then take the harness off for a few minutes, then put it on again, more tummy rubs til they relax and etc... Ceasar (Dog Whisperer) says you should associate it with something good/they love.
