Jen, are you feeding the chicken and turkey adult food in small bites? If so, have you noticed the sharp little white pieces that stick out from some of the kibble? I freaked out when I first saw them and called the company, but they assured me it's just barley and supposed to be there And how much are you feeding them a day? Holly gets about 3/8 of a cup a day and she has gained weight!! I'm not sure how much I can cut that down because it doesn't seem like hardly anything as it is!

I'm feeding them this one, HERE. I didn't keep the bag so I don't remember what flavor it is. My guys both get a little less than a 1/4 cup twice a day. Teddy also gets a full treat twice a day while Woody gets one treat per day. I used to give them apple pieces and carrots but Teddy started throwing up the apple and the carrots put weight on Woody. They usually get bully sticks and flossies once a month. I haven't noticed white stuff in their food but thank goodness it's barley since I just started feeding them this food ;D

Ok Jen, you're going to kill me ;D P&G just bought the company that makes Innova, so it's off to search for another new food From what I understand, they're planning on finalizing the deal next month and I am so bummed out. Holly loves this food and is doing so well on it. I HATE the thought of finding something else! But I certainly don't trust P&G to keep the high quality ingredients, so I'm sure it's going to change. And I also understand that P&G does testing on animals, so that's not cool either.

;D For some reason this doesn't surprise me. I had a feeling they wouldn't be on Innova for very long. Normally hearing something like this would make me have an uneasy feeling in my stomach but since finding that "goldmine" pet store I've previously mentioned I'm not worried. I'll finish up the Innova they have now since it was purchased pre buyout and then switch to a different food when it's gone. Do you have any idea what you'll be switching to? Canidae and Orijen were two of the brands that store carried. You know what puzzles me about Canidae though. I saw that the number one ingredient in at least two of their foods is meal I thought meal was something you didn't want to see as the very first ingredient. I know Canidae always scores very high in dog food ratings so I figured maybe I was missing something. CANIDAE

Actually, I think "meal" is good. It just means that the chicken or turkey or whatever has been baked. That actually means that it's pure meat, rather than a lot of water, which is included in whole chicken, etc. At least that's what I've read As for what we'll go to, I really have no idea. I intend on picking up at least one more bag of innova before the change occurs, so that will buy me some time. We will have another bile acid test by then too, so that will determine if she needs to go on prescription liver food or not. If not, I'll be looking for something with no more protein than what the innova has, which isn't easy to find in a high quality food.

That's good to know about the meal I had it in my head that a lot of the "food people" at CP were against meal as being the very first ingredient in dog food. Maybe I remembered that wrong But then again a lot of what people thought over there wasn't necessarily true ;D
